Coram Voice is proud to support National Care Leavers Week which starts today (25 October).

During the week, we’ll be highlighting the different services and resources we provide to care leavers and those working with them and promoting their voices.

Coram Voice is the single point of contact in England to a service called 'Always Heard', which helps looked after children and care leavers to find out about advocacy services in their area. Our Always Heard advocates help care leavers to understand their rights and get their voices heard.

The service is open Monday-Friday 9.30am-6pm and Saturday 10am-4pm and you can contact us via phone, text, WhatsApp, online form or email.

For professionals, our Always Heard advocacy ‘safety net’ and advice service supports local authorities to meet the needs of children and young people in their area who are seeking advocacy.

Other services and resources for care leavers include:

  • Our specialist 16+ advocate - our specialist advocate gives advice to young people, advocates and other professionals on issues related to leaving care
  • Our ‘Am I a Care Leaver’ tool - an easy to use online tool to help care leavers understand what support they should receive from Children’s Services
  • Our FAQs – answers to care leavers’ frequently asked questions on financial support, education, training and staying with foster families
  • Our ‘Sorted & Supported’ guide – download our free guide to leaving care entitlements, helping young people to navigate the leaving care maze

Finally, our annual Voices competition presents an opportunity for care-leavers to express their experiences and their creative writing skills. We’re delighted to be previewing a wonderful animation to showcase lone of ast year’s finalists during National Care Leavers week.

National Care Leavers Week runs until Friday 3 November. Follow our activity on Facebook and Twitter during the week, and join the conversation using the hashtag #NCLW17.
