Coram Voice comments on Lewisham Council's decision to exempt care leavers from paying council tax
Lewisham Council has become the latest local authority to agree a 100% discount on council tax for care leavers under the age of 25.
Commenting on the decision in East London Lines, Linda Briheim-Crookall, Head of Policy and Practice Development at Coram Voice said: "We know from our research that care leavers often struggle to manage their money. Many have to manage bills and rent on a low income at an age when most of their peers still live at home."
"We really welcome Lewisham’s step and hope all councils will do the same.”
