Virgin London Marathon 2013
On a hot sunny Sunday in April 2013, our five intrepid marathon runners hit the streets of London to raise a spectacular £9,420.53 for Coram Voice. A huge thank you to Gavin Anderson, Alistair Jones, Paul Kingdon, Lucinda Stirton and Sarah Tiffin for their fantastic efforts in both fundraising and running!
Thanks also for the musical support provided by the Hooray Tabascos on the day and to the Rose of Denmark pub in Woolwich for hosting Voice’s cheering squad.

Voice is for Victory…ish! – Quiz Night at HFW
In June 2013, Coram Voice fielded a team of masterminds for the now annual Quiz Night organised by international legal firm Holman Fenwick Willan. Pitted against nearly twenty other teams made up of HFW staff, our slightly inaccurately named “Voice is for Victory” team avoided the shame of coming last(!), answering questions on topics ranging from sports and news, to memory games and KryptonFactor-type challenges.
Half of the proceeds from the quiz were donated to Coram Voice, and overall we received over £750 plus a very generous donation of £5,000 from HFW. Huge thanks to HFW and all the organisers, and to our Coram Voice team, who selflessly allowed others to win the coveted first prize!
London Legal Walk 2013
Thanks to our team of walkers who completed the London Legal Walk in May 2013, completing a 10km loop starting and finishing at the Royal Courts of Justice, and taking in the sights of Buckingham Palace and Hyde Park. The team made it round the course in a record-breaking 2 hours and a bit, with the oldest and the youngest of the team being the first to cross the finish line. Go Team Coram Voice!
The Legal Walk is organised by the London Legal Support Trust, and over 7,500 walkers took part from legal firms across the country.
As well as raising over £250 sponsorship, Coram Voice’s team were also able to talk to lots of lawyers and professionals about Coram Voice and what we do. We even met a group of solicitors (Saracens Solicitors) who have pledged half their fundraising to Coram Voice!
The money raised helps to ensure that we can provide legal support to all of our advocates, so that everything we do is fully up-to-date and young people are enabled to access what they are legal entitled to.
“Raising Voices for Voice”
Thanks to the wonderful Melanie Cavanagh, Communications Manager at Coram Voice, for organising, and performing in, a spring concert, “Raising Voices for Voice”, in March 2013 at St Augustine’s Church in Luton. The event raised an amazing total of more than £1,700 for Coram Voice.
The concert featured the talents of vocal group Peculi8 and Luton Youth Cantores, who entertained the crowds with a repertoire ranging from Cole Porter and Amy Winehouse, to the Beatles. Such was the success of the evening that the two groups were persuaded to join together for a rousing finale of songs from the musical Les Misérables.
A huge “thank you” to all who took part and everyone who bought a ticket, and thanks again Mel!

Charity Auction and 'Pop-Up Shop'
Congratulations to Sarah Tiffin, one of our 2013 London Marathon runners, for organising an extremely successful charity auction and pop-up shop to raise money for Coram Voice in March 2013. In total, the evening raised £1,715.60, which is fabulous!
Sarah had numerous hard-working friends and family to help out on the day, as well as TV presenter Amanda Lamb who acted as auctioneer for the night. Sarah completed the marathon in April and raised nearly £3,800 for Coram Voice in total…an amazing effort all round!

Arts and Crafts Fundraiser
Business Students Yueyue Li, Yu He, Qi Chen and Yafei Wang from the University of Hertfordshire raised £135 for Coram Voice through their ‘Art and Love’ project. They designed and ran an event sourcing and selling art and crafts made by their fellow students at the Galleria shopping centre in Hatfield.
Corelogic Charity Football Tournament 2012
After a series of six closely contested matches at their annual six-a-side tournament in July, Coram Voice was crowned the 2012 Corelogic 6-a-side Football Tournament Champion, netting a prize of £5,000 for our work with young people!
According to Corelogic, “this year saw the biggest turnout yet with 10 teams battling for the coveted prize; after the group stage Brent and Haringey were knocked out of the semi-finals by young person’s charity Coram Voice and The Corelogic Celts, it was Coram Voice however who would eventually go on to clinch the win and claim the cup – well done to them!
Coram Voice ‘Tweet-up’
Coram Voice’s first ever “Tweet Up” in summer 2012 raised nearly £100. A gathering of friends and supporters arranged and organised via Twitter, our Tweet Up was a lot of fun and involved everything from cake sales to a tombola.
